Thank you for asking. We highly recommend you read our page on Gift Ideas.
What should I wear?
The average high temperature in Phoenix in September is 99oF (37oC) while the average low is 75oF (24oC). Our venue is an outdoor venue. There is a lot of shade cover provided by the trees, but the ceremony area will likely be pretty sunny. The cantina area where we will have a cocktail hour following the ceremony is shaded and the reception area is an indoor garden that is kept cooler. Unless Phoenix has one of it's unusually cloudy, cooler days, you should expect it to be fairly warm until sunset (6:42 p.m.) and then cool off slowly.
Our wedding is not a black tie affair. Jenn will be in a formal gown and Cameron will be in a suit, but the women of the wedding party will be in tea-length cocktail dresses and the men in pants, long sleeve shirts, and vests. We suggest wearing whatever you are comfortable with, accounting for the heat. Whether that's a full suit or bermuda shorts, it's fine with us. For those you who get chilled easily, it might be a good idea to bring a shawl or sweater for the indoor garden reception area. Additionally, there are a lot of cobble stones, wood planks, and steps the ladies may want to consider when making their shoe selection. And, we are planning to try and provide manual airconditioning in the form of paper or wooden fans.
Can I bring a date?
With all the craziness that comes with a wedding, we want to spend as much time as possible with our closest and dearest. By not having +1 guests, we are able to invite more of our close friends and family to share the day with us. If you have a question about this, please call or email Jenn. Thank you for understanding.
Can I bring my child(ren)?
Due to the nature of the venue, including several water features, we request no children attend. We apologize for any inconvenience. We invite you to look at this as a day (or weekend) for relaxation and fun without having to worry about or keep track of those adorable little ones. If not having your child(ren) attend the wedding with you is the only thing preventing your attendance, please call or email Jenn so we can discuss it. Thank you for understanding.
I'm coming from out of town/state/country - Where should I stay?
We are currently working on getting a discount rate for rooms at hotels in the area of our venue. We will post all the details on the Accommodations page.
I'm coming from out of town/state/country - What should I see while I'm in Arizona?
Glad you asked, because we love Arizona and it has some gems you shouldn't miss if you've never had the chance to visit. I've suggested a few (hundred) of our favorite things over on the Things To Do page. I've also included some dining suggestions. Check it out.
Why September 11th? And the tenth anniversay no less?
September 11, 2001 had a profound affect on many people, not just in the United States, but worldwide. We mean no disrespect to those who lost their lives or the lives of loved ones 10 years ago, and the tragic events of that day will always be in our thoughts. But, while the journey of life ends in death, it encompasses so much more than that. Our wedding is not about the date on the calendar. It's about celebrating the joy and love of two people committing their lives to one another. We're looking forward to having something to be happy about when September 11 comes around from now on. We hope you will too.
